Hearns oversized arms and shoulders helped him gain over 50 pounds. in his career and became the first fighter in history to win world titles in five weight categories: welded, intermediate and intermediate, middle, super middle and light and heavy. Hearns was named Warrior of the Year by The Ring and the American Association of Boxing Writers in 1980 and 1984; then followed his KO with Roberto Durán. Hearns was known as a fierce puncher throughout his career, even in the cruiser scale, despite having climbed five pounds. He is ranked 18th on The Ring's 100 Greatest Fists of All Time. It currently ranks # 92 in the BoxRec rankings for the greatest boxer book of all time.
