Frederick Douglas worked with her to help slaves. They both doubted abolitionist John Brown’s plan to overthrow the slave system with violence. collaborated with her to aid slaves. Both of them doubted John Brown’s plans to end the slavery system through violence.
In 1844, she married John Tubman, a free man. They adopted Gertie in 1874.
